Jurassic sandstones (Navajo Sandstone, Entrada Sandstone and Morrison Formation) dominate the cliffs on the North Shore of Lake Powell near Rainbow Bridge. Rimrock is typically Late Cretaceous conglomerate/sandstone of the Dakota Formation on many of the buttes and mesas in the central part of Glen Canyon Recreation Area.
