Big Bend National Park
Upper Ernst Arroyo Canyon (east of Ernst Tinaja) is carved in rocks of Cretaceous age ( Buda Limestone, Del Rio Clay, and Santa Elena Formation) that form the core of Sierra Del Carmen, a mountainous ridge that runs north- to-south along the eastern side of Big Bend National Park (Maxwell, 1986) (Click here to see a stratigraphic section of Big Bend National Park).
