View looking downstream into Ernst Tinaja. The Ernst Member of the Boquillas Formation consists of thin-bedded shales that contain inoceramids (an extinct group of clams). These sediments were deposited in the Western Interior Seaway during the Turonian Age of the Cretaceous Period (about 90 million years ago) (Scheubel and Mruk, 1994; Cooper and others (2007).
