| Painted Canyon is located east several miles east of Mecca, California and is accessible via an maintained unpaved road that intersects Scenic Route 195 (Box Canyon Road) near the intersection of the Coachella Canal along the east side of the valley. (Route 195 runs between the town of Mecca and the south entrance of Joshua Tree National Park on I-10). Painted Canyon is a scenic resource area within the Mecca Hills Recreation Area managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. |
