A nonconformity between Precambrian Orocopa Gneiss and Miocene sedimentary rocks in upper Painted Canyon
A nonconformity juxtaposes Precambrian-age metamorphic rocks (Orocopia Schist) with overlying Late Tertiary layered sedimentary rocks. This nonconformity is exposed in upper Painted Canyon about a mile upstream in the right fork of the canyon above the terminal trailhead parking area.
