Trail through the ancient earthworks at Shawnee Lookout Park

Park trails at Shawnee Lookout Park pass along the remnants of earthen border walls and burial mounds on a ridge named Fort Hill. Archaeological investigations indicate that most of the burial mounds in Shawnee Lookout Park were first constructed by Adena and Hopewell Indians (late Early and Middle Woodland periods) starting before or around 2,000 years ago.
