Wind Cave National Park
A section of the roof of Wind Cave showing the highly fractured character of the limestone bedrock. Many of the cavern surfaces have a frothy coating of small crystalline clusters of calcite and gypsum called "popcorn." Larger speleothems consisting of nodular or cauliflower-shaped crystal masses are called "coralloids" (NPS, 2009).
