This view is looking down from the top of the seacliff near Chimney Rock Overlook on the Point Reyes peninsula. Rock exposed in the sea cliff and sea stacks along this rugged coastline consist of Salinian granitic rocks. Chimney Rock Overlook is located just offshore of the point south of the Historic Point Reyes Lifeboat Station. Note how the fractures in the granite control the erosional formation of the shore cliffs, sea caves, and sea arches.
