Lake Mead National Recreation Area
Location Map Creosote bush dominates the alluvial vans in the valley of Callville Wash. This view is from along the Northshore Road near milepost 18. In the distance, steeply dipping strata crops out in the mountainsides in the region called the Bowl of Fire. The Bowl of Fire gets its name for the bright red-colored Aztec Sandstone of Early Jurassic age the crops out between hogback ridges of older and younger strata.
