This view is looking south along Lake Mohave near the mouth of Black Canyon where the Colorado River leaves the gorge cut through the mountainous, volcanic bedrock terrain of the Black Mountains (Arizona side of the River) and Eldorado Mountains (Nevada side of the river) and enters a broader, alluvium-filled basin. This view is from the top of one of the Colorado River terraces on the Arizona side of the lake near Squaw Peaks Cove (near river mile 43). The Nelsons Landing site located on the Nevada side of the lake in the vicinity of the eroded alluvial fans in the distance.
