Slot canyon in upper Painted Canyon
This slot canyon is about a half-mile walk east (upstream) from the terminal parking area in Painted Canyon. The canyon is carved into fanglomerate (alluvial fan sediments cemented into a characteristic conglomerate) of the Mecca Formation of Pliocene age (Sylvester and Smith, 1987).
