Painted Canyon in the Mecca Hills
Western honey mesquite (Prosopis glandulosa) are an important wildlife food source (USDA, [2010c]). It produces yellow blossoms in the early spring and seedpods later in the summer. These mesquite shrubs grow near the entrance to the upper narrow portion of Painted Canyon.
