Granite outcrops at Keys View
Granitic rocks crop out at Keys View. This view shows the western foothills of the Little San Bernardino Mountains in the foreground. The low, dark ridge line in the center of the Coachella Valley is the trace of the San Andreas Fault in the vicinity of the 1,000 Palms Oasis Preserve. San Jacinto Peak (elevation 10,804 feet) rises above Palm Springs on the west side of the Coachella Valley. San Gorgonio Pass is north of San Jacinto Peak.
