The Confidence Hills line the west side of the Amargosa Valley in southern Death Valley National Park. This view is looking west from the Henry Wade Road that connects highway 178 to Saratoga Springs near the southern boundary. The Confidence Hills consist of soft, eroding Tertiary basin-fill sediments that have been uplifted along a fault that runs along the west side of the valley. The higher peaks in the distance are part of Owlshead Mountain (Workman and others, 2002a,b). |
