|
Subunits: (alphabetical): Cedar City Tongue (UT*), Tenney Canyon Tongue (AZ*,UT*). |
|
Unit Name History: First used as the middle formation of Glen Canyon Group (Baker, 1936). Revised, Tenney Canyon Tongue designated as upper tongue of Kayenta Formation (Averitt and others, 1955). Overview (Harshberger and others, 1957). Age modified (Lewis and others, 1961). Overview (Averitt, 1962). Areal limits (Wilson and Stewart, 1967). Overview (Peterson and Pipiringos, 1979). Age modified (Padian, 1989). Areal limits (Anderson, Hintze, 1993). [Some assign this unit to the Early Jurassic; others assign it only to the Late Triassic(?)] |
