Cedar breaks
View of the Cedar Breaks escarpment from the Cedar Breaks visitor center. The forested valley below the colorful escarpment is underlain by marine sedimentary rocks of Cretaceous age, whereas the badlands of the Pink Cliffs form from the weathering and erosion of Paleocene to Eocene-age lake and continental (fluvial) sediments of the Claron Formation (see Hatfield and others, 2000).
