This zoomed-in view looking northwest along the Elkhorn Road
shows more detail of the patchy nature of the salt flats (ephemeral ponds)
in the Soda Lake Basin region. The mountain peak on the right is Freeborn
Mountain (elevation 3,312 feet) and is located beyond the western boundary
of the park. The distant high peaks are part of the La Panza Range (with
elevations over 4,000 feet). |
