This zoomed-in view shows the right-lateral offset of a stream cutting through the Elkhorn Escarpment along the San Andreas Fault. The fault is located at the change in vegetation from sagebrush- to grassland-dominated terrain. The Caliente Range on the western side of the national monument is in the distance.
