Most of the cliffs in the Canyon of Lodore are sandstones of the Precambrian
Uinta Mountain Group. However, sedimentary rocks of Cambrian and Mississippian
age crop out along the upper part of Dunn's Cliff (the light-colored upper
portion of this view). The Lodgepole Limestone (Mississippian) forms the
top of the cliff. Juniper and pinyon-pine forests grow on the the slopes
and crevasses throughout the mountainsides. |
