| Graffiti is a persistent problem in Red River Gorge. However, most graffiti is only found in high-traffic areas and around historic campsite. Most graffiti vanishes with weathering and foot traffic in only several years in the soft sandstone in most areas. Public education and protected status have helped cut back on the problem. Note how lichens cover many surfaces of the sandstone outcrop. |
