Red River Gorge

Red River Gorge Geologic area is an erosionally dissected plateau consisting of flat-lying strata (part of the larger Cumberland Plateau of eastern Kentucky). Pennyslvanian-age sandstone forms the caprock cliffs along the canyon rim.
