Natural Bridges National Monument
This view is looking north along Utah Highway 261 toward the Bears Ears. Natural Bridges National Monument is to the left of the image. The Bears Ears, two buttes capped with Wingate Sandstone, are a very prominent landscape feature that is visible from throughout the central Colorado Plateau region. The Bears Ears are incorporated into American Indian cultural legends and history stories (Linford, 2000). Today, the region is very sparely developed and preserved as National Forest and wilderness for the enjoyment of present and future generations.
