This wide-angle view is looking west at southern end of Lake Mojave with Davis Dam (to the left). Spirit Mountain is the highest peak in the Newberry Mountains in the distance. The Newberry Mountains are the southernmost range in Nevada. California, Nevada, and Arizona come together at the Colorado River 10 miles south of Davis Dam. Spirit Mountain is part of a large plutonic complex that formed about 17.5 to 15.3 million years ago (Lang and others, 2008).
