Big Bend National Park
View of Maverick Mountain from near Maverick Junction on Highway 188 near the park entrance. Badlands in the headwaters region of Terlingua Creek are eroding from soft shales of the Pen and Aguja Formations. Maverick Mountain is an eroded remnant of a large intrusive igneous complex of Tertiary age.
