Wind Cave National Park
This outcrop along the Wind Cave Natural Entrance Trail near the Visitor Center consist of hard, blocky white to pinkish gray sandstone of the Minnelusa Formation (Lower Permian and Pennsylvanian age). The sandstone serves as an erosionally resistant caprock above the limestone where the caverns occur.
