These cliff dwellings along the Island Loop Trail are closed. The National Park Service has limited or prohibited public access to many areas to ensure protection of what little remains of archeological significance of the Ancestral Puebloan (Sinagua) culture. However, there is much for visitors to see and explore at Walnut Canyon. In addition to the cliff dwellings, restored pueblo and pithouse ruins are located along the canyon rim near the park's visitor center. |
