Sunset Crater National Monument
The white bark and bright green leaves of an Aspen tree stand out in contrast to the dark rock of the Bonito Lava Flow. This flow originated from volcanic vents associated with the eruption of Sunset Crater. In the distance, a fire road leads to the summit area of O'Leary Peak (elevation 8,916) which is also a lava dome in the San Francisco Volcanic Field (Wolfe, 2000).
