This view is looking west toward the Trinity Mountains in the vicinity of Black Butte at the town of Mt. Shasta (along Interstate 5). The Trinity Mountains are part of the southern Cascade Range and on west side of Mount Shasta. Note the cirques (bowl-shaped, glacially carved valleys) high on the mountainsides. A grove of shrub-sized manzanita is growing in the foreground.
