Pinnacles National Park
Episodic flash floods carve the canyons in the valleys in the Pinnacles area. The massive cliffs of volcanic tuff shown here display large blocks of pre-existing rocks that was blown out of the volcano and add texture to the weathered surfaces of the rock. The rhyolite tuff probably solidified from a semi-molten state after the eruption. Humans present for scale.
