American ravens (Corvus corax) are common in the park area and are adapted to the arid and extreme temperature conditions of the high desert. The primary physical difference between ravens and crows is that ravens are much larger, have a more powerful bill, and have elongated pointed throat feathers. Ravens have a wedge-shaped tail whereas a crow's tail is squarish, A raven's voice is low and hoarse compared with a crow (Boarman. and Heinrich, 1999). |
