This view shows some of the dwellings and storage areas of Far View House. Rooms without doors were probably accessed via ladder from the roofs. Studies of tree rings (dendrochronology) from logs excavated at this site suggest construction began here around 1000 A.D., and that the dwellings were used for nearly 300 years (MVMA, 1995b). Photographs taken at the time of excavation show that most of the walls had collapsed into heap of rubble. However, the rubble helped to stabilize the lower walls and to cover and preserve archeological artifacts. |
