Lake Mead National Recreation Area
Location Map This view is looking downstream from a Colorado River gravel bar in Black Canyon. The daily demands from electricity from the dam creates fluctuations in the river's flow below the dam of a range of about 2 meters. Only the first several miles of the Colorado River below Hoover Dam is a free-flowing stream before it enters Lake Mohave in Black Canyon farther downstream.
