This view is looking north from the Balcony Cave trailhead and overlook parking area. Gillem Bluff is the east-facing escarpment in the distance. The bluff is part of a normal fault system where the hanging wall has dropped on the east side relative to the foot wall of the fault on the west side. The fault system produced the structural basin that is reflected by Tule Lake valley east of the fault (Donnelly-Nolan and Champion, 1987). |
