Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
A fern tree (Hapu'u) grows along the edge of a lava flow that erupted from Mauna Ulu lava shield vent in 1969 (USGS, 1997). An ohia forest is in the distance. This view is from near the Pauahi Crater parking area on Chain of Craters Road.
