Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
Lava flows block the road at the end of Chain of Craters Road. Lava flows that crossed the road and flowed in the sea began to erupt in 1983 from thePu'u'O'o Crater on the East Rift Zone. The eruption has been ongoing since then, although flows that reach the ocean have been intermittent.
