This ledge of Kaibab Limestone is near the El Tovar Lodge in Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim. In the distance, a trail in the canyon is visible (just to the left of the massive limestone outcrop in the center of the image). This trail extends from the Bright Angel Trail at Indian Gardens and crosses the the Tonto Platform to the Plateau Point overlook of the Colorado River in the inner gorge. Plateau Point is the destination of a one-day mule trip into the canyon from the South Rim.
