Great Basin National Park
This view is looking up at the ceiling along a high, narrow passage in Lehman Cave. The walls of the passage are covered with flowstone. Speleothems consist of a type of crystalline limestone called travertine. Travertine forms from the precipitation of calcium carbonate (calcite) from freshwater (surface water or groundwater).
