| Example of an Inscription inscription at El Morro National Monument. This one is a Spanish inscription carved by Ramon Garcia Jurado in 1709. Inscription Rock bear Inscriptions left by people of Ancestral Puebloan culture who built structures on top of the mesa starting in 1375 A.D. Members of Spanish expeditions in the 16th century left messages of their passage. U.S. military personnel on expeditions through the area left many inscriptions as well. Today the National Park Service is focusing on stabilization of these historic inscriptions (NPS, 2007). |
