| This view taken in 1948 shows the large dune field at the southern end
of Mesquite Flat near Stovepipe Wells. A large alluvial fan is located
at the mouth of Grotto Canyon draining from Tucki Mountain (on the right).
The Devils Cornfield is located at the top center of the
image along Highway 190. The original location of "Stovepipe Wells"
is in the upper left corner. Modern Stovepipe Wells is located near the
written word "station" along Highway 190 visible in the lower
