Panamint Valley
Late afternoon light highlights the difference between dark gravel of the alluvial fan and recent mudflow deposits along the Big Four Mine Road. The mudflow originated from poorly consolidated Tertiary-age deposits high in the Panamint Mountains to the east. Mudflows provide most of the sediments to the surface of the playa.
