| Ubehebe Craters include over a dozen volcanoes formed from great blasts of steam, rock, and volcanic tuff and ash when rising magma came in contact with water filled alluvial fan sediments on the north side of Tin Mountain. The near lack of erosion and lack of soil on Ubehebe Crater (shown here) suggests that the last eruption in the Holocene (perhaps less than 10,000 years ago;Crowe, 1990).
