Titus Canyon Drive, a one-way unpaved road, starts on Highway 374 (5 miles west of Beatty, Nevada). This view is looking east toward the headwaters region of Titanothere Canyon. Dark brown outcrops near the center of the image are Tertiary volcanic rocks. The horizontal sedimentary layers in the distance consist of conglomerate, sandstone, and volcanic tuff beds of the Titus Canyon Formation (Oligocene) (Reynolds, 1976)and Artist Canyon Formation (Oligocene? to Pliocene) (Hunt and Mabey, 1966; McAllister, 1970). |
