The ruins of the Circle Creek Ranch homestead are located just outside of the Almo Entrance to the park near the Visitor Center. The California Trail passes through the City of Rocks area. Wagon trains of early emigrants started passing the area in 1843, and later experienced the passage of people on the way to the California gold fields (Anonymous, 1993).
