This view from the Pinnacles Overlook area shows a few scattered cedars and a remnant of grass-covered pediment surface, called a “table.”  Grassy tables stand out of patches of green amongst the badlands that surround the headwaters region of East Fork of Sage Creek.  Sage Creek is a tributary of the Cheyenne River, which flows north and eastward into the Missouri River in central South Dakota.
