SilverCreek.jpg
Looking south from from a Santa Clara County Water
District facility in the Oak Hills toward a new development in progress
in the Silver Creek area. In the distance is the Santa Clara Valley between
San Jose and Morgan Hill. The Oak Hills are underlain by serpentinite and
form part of a structural medial ridge that extends northward underneath
southern San Francisco Bay. In the South Bay region, the Silver Creek basin
is to the east of this ridge, the Cupertino Basin is to the right of this
ridge. Both basins are relatively young, and contains massive quantities
of Quaternary-age sediments.
