Headland erosion along these sea cliffs at New Brighton
State Beach are causing severe concerns for nearby coastal residents. Particularly
during low tide in the winter months, large piles of gravel and boulders
along the base of the sea cliffs are rich in marine fossils from the eroding
      Purisima Formation (Miocene age).
