Large blueschist outcrops rise above the coastal prairie in low hills along the east shore of Tomales Bay along the Tomales Bay Trail. The blueschist is part of the extensive belt of Franciscan complex along the east side of the San Andreas Fault in the Point Reyes National Seashore region.
