Petrified Forest National Park
This massive tree stump along the Giant Logs Trails is almost 12 feet in diameter. The Giant Logs Trail is located behind the Rainbow Forest Museum in the southern part of Petrified Forest National Park. The Civilian Conservation Corp worked in the park between 1931 and 1942 constructing roads, bridges, trails, park residences and the Rainbow Forest Museum. They also restored Ancestral Puebloan sites and the historic Painted Desert Inn (NPS, 2007b).
