Navajo National Monument
A mixed forest of aspen, scrub oak, box elder, Douglas fir, and many other plants thrive in the valley near Betatakin Ruin. The climate in the area has typically dry, warm summers (with daily highs of about 85 degrees F.) with occasional late summer thunderstorms. Winters are typically cold (about 35 degrees F.) and typically snowy. Springtime is typically cool and windy (NPS, 2010).
