Natural Bridges National Monument
Sipapu Bridge from Bridge View in Natural Bridges National Monument. The park features three great natural bridges (unlike the "arches" in Arches National Park). The natural bridges in this national monument were carved by stream erosion in the entrenched canyon carved in sandstone. The geologic story of the formation of the natural bridges is linked to the physical weathering properties of the rocks, stream drainage pattern changes, and the climate-influenced erosional history of the landscape (Huntoon and others, 2000).
